The fictional historical story set in this game is a true event set in three time periods, and three protagonists feature re-emergence namely Altair Ibn-La Ahad in the 12th and 13th centuries Masyaf, Ezio Auditore da Firenze in the 16th century. Constantinople, and series protagonist Desmond Miles in 21st century America. The main story is Assassin Ezio's journey to unlock the secrets of Altar's vault in Masyaf using a disc like artifact containing Altar's memories.
